What's Up With Tiffany Tene'-April 2021
Hey Hey Hey!
We are now going into the second quarter of the new year!
At the beginning of the year, I wrote a blog post about my business goals for 2021. Today, I am writing to give you guys another update as to what’s up with me both professionally and personally.
First Quarter Update
Travel
I am so excited to announce that I finally bought my VERY FIRST international plane ticket! whoop! whoop! I will be traveling to ________towards the end of the year.
I will keep my traveling destination a secret for now, and announce my location when I am there!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, (Houston, Texas), I am making preparations to set up base (about 2 months from now) in a location where the cost of living is lower. Doing so will allow me to save even more for my future travels, businesses, and investments.
Business
I have a new logo for my independent Senior Care business!
I announced in the first blog post of what's up with Tiffany Tene' 2021, that I decided to go back to doing one on one Senior care… In addition to offering corporate and small business senior care consultations, I am now going to be taking my one on one concierge services nationwide!
This quarter, I plan to concentrate more on marketing my new services.
Style—Tene’s Armoire
Last quarter, I created my first 2 curated modern vintage looks!
I also made my very first international sample purchase (with no middle man) from a company in Nairobi, Kenya!
One of my possible future products was delivered to me on Saturday!
My Blog
In February, my new lifestyle blog hit 1.5k visitors for the first time, then jumped to 4.2 to 4.5k visitors in March!
Most blog traffic came from Pinterest, and Google search.
I give Pinterest stories almost all of the credit!
Since January, I have been consistent with the new Pinterest stories feature. My highest amount of impressions came from my visits to Seabrook, Texas-12,000 impressions. My ocean video still has the most views and saves-5.7k views and 44 saves. Although all of my Pinterest stories impressions range from 7,000-12,000, the article that contributed to the spike in blog visits, was a post I wrote while reminiscing about our time in Corpus-5 Things I Miss About Island Life in Corpus Christi, Texas.
View and save some of my top pins, videos, and stories on Pinterest!
I also realized that I got the most traffic on my blog last quarter, by writing less, and focusing more on marketing and E-commerce.
This month, while trying to come up with the perfect blog, marketing, affiliate partnership, and E-Commerce work balance flow, I backed off a bit from Pinterest, bringing my traffic from 140,000-190,000 monthly views, down to 59,000 monthly views...
But what I love about Pinterest is that once you get back to consistency, it's easy to quickly get your views back up.
Overall, Pinterest monthly views will go down quickly if you are not as active, and rise quickly once you get back in the game.
I am still going to come back strong on Pinterest this quarter.
I have learned to focus on the pins that are actually bringing traffic to my website, rather than get caught up in Pinterest impressions.
Impressions are essential for getting the word out, but they say little about whether the marketing message actually broke through and how it resonated. Source: Think With Google
Nevertheless, Pinterest is still a very powerful creative platform!
Investing in Stocks
I have been heavily researching and studying stocks & bonds, and have created a solid beginner investment plan.
Have you ever thought about investing in gold, metals, and bitcoin?..or having shares in your favorite stores and apps?
What I’m Lovin’
Stiletto nails!
Since I do a lot with my hands, I haven’t been getting my nails done lately. I want to start back going to the nail shop on a regular (even though it's hard to type with them.)
It's all about the claws for me!

5 Things I Miss About Island Life in Corpus Christi, Texas
I still can’t believe that we were living in Corpus Christi, Texas just minutes away from the beach, for 5 years!
Now back in Houston, Texas the 4th largest metropolitan city in the US, there is always something to do.
Almost everything that you want or need, Houston has it!
Although there are many advantages to moving back to Houston, there are a few major amenities in Corpus that I really have been missing.
5 Things I Miss About Island Life in Corpus Christi, Texas
1. The Beach
I have been feeling like a mermaid out of water lately!
My favorite sport is swimming so I desperately miss going to the beach almost every day!…I desperately miss swimming in the ocean and laying in the sand daily. I have a nice view of the swimming pool in front of my home office window, but when you get used to swimming in the ocean, the chlorinated water in the pool doesn't seem too appealing anymore.
I miss taking my kids to the beach and watching them run in the sand without restrictions.
I miss meeting friendly Islanders- Some who have settled on the island because of the military, and some who said that they enjoyed vacationing there so much, that they winded up never going back home because of its chill lifestyle-one guy told us that he came to the island from Southern California for Spring Break, and never went back home!
I miss the sound of the waves crashing, seagulls swooping slow, and the luxury of strolling on the beach at midnight.

2. My Super Healthy Lifestyle
Since I been back in Houston, I have noticed a big drop in my healthy lifestyle. I do a whole lot of walking here, but the time that I spend outside compared to when I was living by the beach is way less.
Even though Houston has far more things to do than little Corpus Christi, I was definitely more physically active on the beach.
Physical Activity on the Beach
Right on the beach, I can do a variety of exercises. Run, jump, play frisbee, play catch, football, and volleyball all in the sand.
I also used to always challenge my older kids to a game of basketball-playing by a park around the corner from the beach.
Currently, my physical activities consist of walking and dancing.
While living in Corpus, I also spent way more time outdoors, because we lived in a beach like home where we had the whole property to ourselves.
Weather
The weather in Corpus Christi is very warm, but because the city lies on the gulf coast, there is always a refreshing breeze!
Food
I used to order Indian food from India online every other week at ishopindian.com. Sad to say that I haven’t ordered anything from them in almost 2 1/2 years! Also in Corpus Christi, there is a fruit and vegetable store called Fruit King. Omg! You can buy 2-3 big cardboard boxes full of fresh fruit and veggies for $25.00. (I haven’t shopped here since Corpus.) ishopindian.com
Currently, my diet consists of more American, Nigerian and Jamaican food, which I love, and am not complaining about at all!
Hair
I used to give myself natural hair masks and hot oil treatments every week. Now I only do them once a month, or once every 3 months.
3. Extended Family
I do not have any close family members here in Houston. I sort of miss being able to drive around and pop in on my extended family, just to say hi, pick up a dinner plate that they insist on me eating, get some good laughs in from my aunties wild jokes, and going over there for birthdays and other family get-togethers.
4. The News Channel
Seriously, when we first started watching the news, we were like, “Yesss!” …In Corpus Christi, Texas there are very few cases of murder, theft, or domestic abuse. The big thing that you had to watch out for was hit and runs. 6 Things You Shoud Know Before Visitng Corpus Chrisit, Texas
To watch TV, with very little bad news was so refreshing. Here in Houston, Texas I only watch the news if I have to, because every day there is drama, a murder somewhere, break-ins, and whatever other major or minor crimes you can think of! Sorry, Houston, I do love you, and for the most part, I have always felt at home and safe here. But to live in a place where local news broadcasts are short, and the rest of the news hour is spent talking about other things that are going on outside of your city, is heaven.

5. Slow Pace Living
I love the hustle and bustle of the big city! But it wasn't until I moved to Corpus that I realized that yes, I consider myself a big city girl, but I should separate my big city girl lifestyle from home.

What's Up With Tiffany Tene' January 2021
Happy New Year friends!
Since today is the start of a full New Year 2021 week, I thought that I would announce what you can expect on my Lifestyle and Business website and blog this year.
Fashion Style and Vintage Look Books
I am creating more Look Books and videos! These looks will consist of new and gently used clothing coming straight out of my store tene's armoire.
Also, because I am in the business of reselling, and often sell Winter and Summer clothes year-round, some of my looks will be out of season. This will not only help you plan ahead-get a head start before entering a new season, but will save you money, and put you in the same frame of mind as the fashion industry-As you know, they are always a season or two ahead of us.
Curating My Poshmark Store
At the beginning of your Poshmark journey, Poshmark suggests that you display a variety of styles and items, including jewelry, accessories, and handbags.
After a few months of selling, you will be able to see what sells the best in your store. Your best sellers list can also change, over time. You can continue to sell a variety of items, or you can curate your store/ closet.
Note: What sells fast in someone’s else’s store will not necessarily sell fast in your store.
Currently, I have boutique items, swimsuits, men's clothing, jewelry, jeans, blazers, home decor, and vintage items up for sale in my Poshmark store. (I am a seller on Mercari and Etsy, but Poshmark is where you will always find me!)
I Choose To Curate My Poshmark Store
What consistently sells the best for me (including on Etsy and Mercari ) are handbags.
In fact, my first online sell in my Posh store was a Steve Madden handbag and wallet. Not too long after my first sale, I started investing in and restoring Coach and Fossil vintage bags.
So for 2021, I will shift my focus to reselling vintage bags, and vintage clothing on Poshmark and Etsy.
Selling Directly On My Website
In 2021, I will make tene's armoire available here on my website. This will consist of tene's armoire vintage looks, handbags, home goods, and photography in canvas form.
In addition to the above, I am currently in the middle of my first foreign investment project which I will talk about more if or when things get finalized.
Extraordinary Care
My very first successful business!
(Picture was taken by my now 12-year-old son. He helped me take this picture so that I would be able to post my first professional photo online when he was just 7 years old.)
With intentions to expand, teach and help provide another source of income for Travelers and Digital Nomads by connecting them with the Elder and Senior Community, I have come to the final realization and conclusion that I am always at my best and more successful when providing one on one care for Seniors and people with disabilities. Career-wise, the medical field is my greatest strength.
By providing one on one care, I can personalize my service in an unrushed manner, build trust, and long-lasting and genuine relationships with my clients and their family.
Not to brag, but The Senior community loves me!
While on hospital assignments, they used to always ask if they can take me home. After continually hearing this, along with a nudge from my first Senior Client, I started my own Care Concierge Service in 2009. In 2012, I dropped my name and made my service name Extraordinary Care official.
More About My Senior Care Services
I am creating another page that will include several of my one on one private services, and also updating my corporate consultation page.
I will no longer be teaching how to start a private senior care service, and will not be writing an e-book, but will forward the necessary information that is already out there to you.
In the past, I was a Certified Nursing Assistant and had no interest in becoming a Certified Caregiver. Really, you don't need to be a Certified Caregiver when you have your own Senior Care business in most instances. But times are changing, and the title Certified Caregiver looks damn good for your private business when meeting a potential client and their family.
Whether you are new or have been doing this for a long time like me, my advice is to get certified.
I also advise that you only get your Certification from the original American Caregiver Association.
The American Caregiver Association has been around since the '80s. After passing the Certified Caregiving test, you will be put on the National Registry for Certified Caregivers. This means that you will be recognized as a Certified Caregiver in all 50 States.
Also, after you pass the exam, you can buy a badge/Caregiver ID card which will have your name or your business name, along with your certification number, the date it was issued, expiration date, and your active certifications. Your laminated Caregiver ID card will have a QR code whereby you can scan with your smartphone. After scanning, your QR code will take you to the Caregiver Association website to verify your card’s authenticity.
You can also take additional classes to upgrade your position and skills. (There is an Assisted Living Manager class that I wouldn't mind taking.)
Website User Guide
I'm creating a simple website user guide. For instance, have you clicked the Tiffany Tene’ tab on my website bar? If you do, you will see the above picture, along with a couple of other photo slides. Here, you will be able to just click on the main categories of my website.
Why Create a Website User Guide?
Because every website and web page that you land on is different. Sometimes you may end up clicking on things that are not clickable, not really know what’s clickable, or unsure how to navigate a certain website to get to what you need or want.
I want to be sure that all aspects of my website are user friendly.
Africa
I will be blogging more on Africa, and the many cultures and countries within the continent, while dispelling myths.
I have had a love affair with Africans and been involved in the culture-specifically Nigerians, Cameroonians, and Kenyans, since 2003.
There was even a time where I wore headwraps and traditional Nigerian clothing. After starting my business and then moving away from my African friends in Houston, Texas I somehow stopped.
Funny story-When I relocated to Corpus Christi I was like, where are all the Nigerians?… I can't find them…well, I won't be here for long! Lol. The only Nigerian I came in contact with was my aunt’s doctor.
I would like to share my story and experiences with you here in the culture section of my blog. I had a written out plan, including art sketches as to how I would share the continent, and expose the lies and myths about Africans since 2004, but never pursued it.
After my Nigerian friends and former co-workers engrafted me into their culture, I became more aware of my African roots. They then began teaching me about Nigeria. By careful observation, I was able to recognize the differences between certain African cultures.
Out of the blue, I made a statement to my Nigerian co-workers after an African man walked down the hallway at work. I said, “He’s different from you guys. He is not Nigerian!”
They all raised their eyebrows, smiled, and was curious to know how I was able to make the distinction- because most of the African Americans who worked with us thought that they were all the same-including me until I started to show interest.
At that time, a lot of African Americans whom I was around or worked with did not want to hear the truth about our African history-not even my family. So leaving the ignorant behind, (I too was ignorant until I did my research) I kept myself surrounded primarily around Nigerians. They became my new family here in Houston, Texas.
My DNA Test
I took my DNA test in March 2020 and the results show that my Maternal genes consist primarily of Nigerian DNA.
I was so excited and overwhelmed as I looked back over the years to see how the Universe strategically placed me around these people. I was so overwhelmed that I cried!
So this is why I am so attracted to the people, the music, Nigerian movies, the food, the language…Though It didn't start this way…
ohhhhhh! When they sing, and dance, and speak, I feel it so deeply in my gut!
Before taking my DNA test, a lot of Nigerians told me that I didn't have Nigerian features. They told me that I had Ethiopian features. Some told me that I looked Eritrean.
I look nothing like my grandmother who's facial features display more of our African roots. These are her genes.… My maternal African genes.
I have also been mistaken for mixed Asian, Philippino, and Middle Eastern.
My Mixed Race
I am a mixture of European Spanish, on my grandfather’s side, (mom’s dad), and Native American Oklahoma Cherokee on my dad's mother’s side of the family. My dad told me that his father’s brother stated that we were “Black China Men”, who carried the name Yee, but this has not been proven to me as of yet.
I can't wait to share my African journey here in Houston, Texas, as I still can't get over this confirmation of my Nigerian roots.
Next, I need to find out what tribe I come from.
Well, I'm already claiming the Wodaabe tribe, after reading and watching videos about them-but will do an official Tribal DNA test sometime this year.
Hotels
Plan on reading more about my hotel reviews stays and points in the traveling section of my blog.
Hotels are my sanctuary and get away from the “mom life”. Lol
Seriously, Moms, especially homeschool moms, do you ever get time to yourself?
I’m talkin' extended time away from the house-overnight, weekends, or a whole week or two!
If not, I hope to inspire you to get some me time.
My stays will start off midscale, and upper midscale, and will progress to upscale, luxury, and resort.
I love staying at hotels because I don't have to cook, or clean. I love being pampered, and pampering myself. I love people and places to accommodate me sometimes.
I am a natural nurturer and caregiver, so this is a must for me.
Affiliate Sales Page
As a new affiliate marketer, I have some pretty awesome brands that I have partnered up with! To help get the word out about time-sensitive sales and promotions that you wouldn't want to miss out on, I will create a special sales page. Here, you can come to my website, check the sales page, and be one of the first to take advantage of these special offers-Some may have promo and discount codes.
I love a good deal, so think of me as your own Personal Shopper!
Beaches and Islands
In the traveling section of my blog, I need to focus more on the Islands and beaches. According to my Pinterest account, this is where my numbers and saves are the highest.
Guys, I have been talking about beach hopping Corpus Christi for 2 years! Please forgive me. I had a lot of soul searching to do since moving back to Houston from the Islands.
I was planning on Beach Hopping before I decided to be a Lifestyle Blogger-er, you know…, remember when I was always trying to inject traveling and style on my Senior Care business site? lol.
Also, since I’m a mermaid I have to be around beaches and lakes for optimal health! This is another reason why I need to travel and am relocating again.
Sometimes you have to take a deep look at what environment your whole being needs to be in-mentally physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Daily weekly and monthly happenings
At the very bottom of my website in the footer, I will start displaying pictures, videos, and gifs of my life, business, trips, kids, promos, and other Tiffany Tene’ happenings.
Travel Guides
I am looking forward to getting out and about a bit more so that I can create local city and beach guides.
To tell you the truth, since moving back from the island, I have been a bit of a homebody.
Yes, I get out for business, out in nature, and go out dining now and then, but definitely not as much as I used to. Before moving to the Islands, I could never keep still. I stayed out runnin’ the streets!
Houston, Corpus Christi, Galveston Island, and Arkansas have a lot to offer! I would like to display more information about these places in the travel section of my blog before and in between traveling abroad-and possibly becoming a local guide, or relocation specialist.
It's on my starting multiple businesses list!
More Poshmark Selling Tips
As my regular readers already know, I am overly obsessed with Poshmark. I began making Poshmark tip videos on Instagram and YouTube a while back but discontinued them. I feel that I am now more orderly, so I will be continuing my tips this year here on my blog.
Also, looking forward to doing reselling and wholesale tours for new E-Commerce merchants, and offering more digital services! Stay tuned…
Well, I will end this blog post here, and get back to planning and working on my new web pages! If you haven't subscribed to my blog, now would be a great time to. Don't forget to read my about me page to find out what else I’ve got up my sleeve. Also, follow my pins on Pinterest, and check out my store on Poshmark.
New Year 2021-Bring In The New Year By Doing These 3 Things
Never go into the New Year carrying old year energy-no matter how good or not so good the previous year has been. If that year was amazing, we want an even more amazing experience- climbing higher and higher, reaching brand new heights. If a particular year was filled with pain, grief, and trauma, we don't want to carry or hold onto those emotions, while transitioning into a new season.
*Though for some people, it may take more time to heal from a major traumatic situation.
We can all agree that the energy of the year 2020 was very eerie, strange, unexpected, and life-changing to say the least.
Although each individual has their own view about what has gone on this year, these bizarre happenings have taken a toll on the majority in some type of way.
2020 either woke you up or put you into a deep sleep. 2020 either caused depression or a greater sense of appreciation.
2020 either strengthened or weakened you.
However your personal response, it's very important that you as an individual cleanse your mind, body, and spirit of all major 2020 events, starting December 31, 2020.
Get rid of negative vibes
Get rid of sick feelings
Get rid of negative thinking
Get rid of limitations
Get rid of panic and fear
Get healthier
Stay healthy
Continue to move forward surrounding yourself with positive people and a positive environment
Continue to radiate positive vibes
Continue to stay on track in life
To accomplish the above lifestyle, bring in The New Year by doing these 3 things
Immerse Yourself in a Spiritual Bath
Take a bath using Pink Himalayan Salts! Pink Himalayan salt baths are known to cleanse and purify your mind body and spirit.
These natural pink crystal salt baths are widely used as a detox to remove toxins from out of the body, and are also known in the spirit world to banish negative energy.
How To Take a Spiritual Bath
Take a shower first, using an all-natural soap, and an all-natural shampoo before bedtime.
Run warm water in the tub.
While bath water is running, spread 1/2 cup of crystal salts in the bathtub, or pour crystal salts under running bath water.
*Shampoo bars can be used on body, soap bar can also be used in hair-I use one natural bar (whether labeled shampoo or soap bar) from head to toe.
Continue to fill the tub halfway full adding 1/2 cup more Himalayan salt once the tub is almost full.
Immerse yourself in your pink crystal salt bath..close your eyes and relax while all of the minerals absorb into your body.
Tilt your head back into the saltwater, or tilt your head back to pour salt water over your head- be careful to not get in your eyes.
Bathe in your pink Himalayan salt bath for 30 minutes, scooping water up in your hand and rubbing on the body.
Slip into your bathrobe, or stay nude, and allow yourself to air dry.
Continuing in the new year, do this once a week before the start of the week, Saturday or Sunday, or once a month, before the start of a new month- between the 30th-1st. I find it best to do weekly or bi-weekly, but test and see what works best for you.
Precaution-Be sure to drink water after your pink Himalayan salt baths, to rehydrate your body.
Juice Cleanse
Cleanse toxins out of your body by doing a juice cleanse the first week of the new year-starting January 1, 2021. Not only is this important for the physical, but excreting toxins out of your body allows you to think more clearly.
Precaution-Consult with a Doctor before a juice cleanse.
Whether you make your own or decide to buy all-natural juice cleansers, try juicing for 5- 7 days once a month, or in accordance to a health professional that is familiar with the cycle and condition of your body.
Mask Off
While tucked away in nature…
For oxygen's sake, go to a park with lots of trees, a lake, or a beach when there is barely anyone there. While in nature, make your 2021 intentions known to the Universe.
Precaution-Be aware of your surroundings, tell a friend or loved one if going alone, make sure your phone is fully charged, don't forget your water bottle and mace pepper spray.
Continuing on in 2021, and beyond, make a daily habit of going to the park or having your daily lake or beach time. I like to switch it up by going to different parks, or going to some of the same parks at different times.
By bringing in the New Year doing these 3 simple things, you can be sure to see a change in the way you think, act, in the decisions that you make, a change in your physical body, and overall health.

*Suggestions in this blog post are based on my personal natural health experiences and journey, and also in conjunction with what I have learned while continuing my studies as a natural health professional.

While I promote and believe in healthy sexuality, confidence, and style, through luxury lingerie, victims of sex trafficking are experiencing the exact opposite of all three of these characteristics.
As I looked deeply into this organization, I knew that I couldn’t turn away without somehow getting involved!
I first discovered Free The Girls after becoming affiliate partners with Anya Lust.

E-Commerce
As Ambassadors on Poshmark, we help new Poshers start their boutique and reselling journey by providing tips and tools for business growth.
The most important thing that we do within the community is that we help one another advertise, promote, and sell, by consistently sharing each other’s merchandise with our own following.
I am eager to help Free The Girls because I will literally be helping these women run the same type of business as I do!
To get involved with Free The Girls, I decided to first start by selecting bras out of my own inventory to donate.
As I source new inventory for my store, I will also start picking up bras to help Free The Girls.
By donating new and gently used bras, you too can contribute to a victim's inventory for business.
There are so many other ways that we can help these women rebuild their lives so that they can truly be free.

3 Reasons To Shop Out of Season-Resort Wear Tropical and Florals During The Winter
As a fashion reseller, I sell clothes in and out of season. I have sourced winter items, that sold in the summer, and swimwear, that sold smack dab in the middle of winter.
There are many advantages to purchasing your clothes out of season!
3 Reasons To Shop Out of Season
You can almost always get out of season items at rock bottom prices
Retailers need to hurry up and sale out of season items so that they can make room for new inventory.
To move merchandise quickly, they will drop their prices extremely low at the end of every season.
If you are trying to save money by cutting back on your expenses, or if you are on the lookout for the best bargains, don't shop in season, shop out of season.
2. You will stay ahead of the game and super organized like a fashion designer
The fashion industry is always a season or two ahead of us. Right now, top designers are already displaying their spring collection, and soon will be rolling out their summer collections. During summer, while most of us are out swimsuit shopping, the fashion industry will be presenting their fall collection to the world. Let’s become the ultimate planners of our “wardrobe life”, by thinking ahead like a fashion designer.
3. If you're a rebel, and like to stand out just to break the fashion rules, you can go against the grain this Winter by wearing florals and bright colors rather than dark and neutral shades
Why wear the same colors as everyone else? I like burnt orange, tan, and brown, but a fall and winter wardrobe full of color is so refreshing!
Red and green are the normal Christmas colors anyway. We can add that same flair to our Winter wear.
Add some flair to your Winter wear!
(Also, wearing more colorful outfits just may cure your winter blues!)
If you are planning a trip for spring break or a summer vacay, why not shop for the occasion now?
Whether you are looking to save money by purchasing items at a discounted price, want to organize your closet a couple of seasons ahead, planning a trip to a warmer climate during the winter, or like breaking fashion rules, here are some tropical outfits you can wear during the winter.
PS: Don't forget to throw on a super stylish coat!

Online Courses Every New Content Creator Needs To Take For Their Business To Survive
My move to the islands in Corpus Christi, Texas 8 years ago to help sick family members turned into a staycation!
It was a very abrupt transition that forced me to evaluate and question my whole life.
After our first year on the island, I wasn't needed as much by my family, so I decided that I was going to take a sabbatical. I soon had my 5th and final baby. Ha!
By year 3 on the island, while surfing the net, I discovered the blogging community-first through Skype which then led me to Bloglovin’.
My love for reading and writing began to resurface!
(I joined Bloglovin’ as a reader with no real intentions of writing, knew nothing about social media, or the word “blog".)
I always found myself getting caught up reading stories with popular headlines like,
“I dropped everything and moved to Thailand”…
“I quit my job to travel the world”…
Though I wasn't traveling outside of the US, I had a virtual bond with digital nomads, expats, and travel bloggers. I had dropped everything to help my family.
I left Houston, Texas drove to Northern and Southern California-stayed for 7 months, drove to San Antonio, back to Houston, then onto Corpus Christi to help my family-and then later, got a place 5 minutes away from the beach, to start my new island girl/mother beach life.
Although these bloggers came from a totally different work-life than me, we shared the same, “ready to roam and explore, free-spirit traits!”
After going through a serious spiritual transformation, I was eager to start creating multiple streams of income, upgrade my skills, and yeah…., eventually travel!
I used Island Time to reflect, reevaluate my life, become one with nature, and get to know my true authentic self once again.
Moving forward, I wanted to expand my small senior care service so I took a few courses, and received certifications in human resources, entrepreneurship, customer service, accounting, business management, and leadership.
In 2015, I enrolled in a natural health consulting course and got my certificate as a natural health consultant. I then decided that I was going to further my studies to become a natural health practitioner!
I spent a huge amount of time speaking with reps from several accredited online colleges in regards to obtaining a degree.
(I also checked out a bunch of historical books at the library, and immersed myself in online history books, and religious studies.)
It was then that I discovered that you can virtually learn to do anything on the internet! The opportunities are endless! Plus, you can learn at your own pace! You can take several courses at one time, and learn so much within a couple of hours, days, weeks, and months-versus years.
While surfing the net, I began to read about how to start online businesses, and how to become a blogger.
I also went to numerous webinars, to gather information, observe, and to learn about how different people were transitioning from the traditional work-life, to start online businesses.
Through trial and error, I am still learning this online world!
My love for learning, continuing my education, and picking up new skills, hasn’t stopped.
Social Media
I first dove into social media for business intending to expand my independent senior care service. I signed up for Google+ and then decided to sign up for a Twitter account. I had no clue!
But hey, I tried!-Learning as I go!
While stumbling my way through endless scrolls of tweet tweet tweets, I made a few business connections and even got the chance to do a book review, after a Caregiving team reached out to me. It was fun!
Finding the right platform for your particular business and brand is key!
Some marketers stress that you need to be on every platform, while others advise focusing on at least 2 that seem to have the best engagement for your brand.
Blogging
I started blogging with my one targeted niche but noticed that I was always somehow trying to incorporate travel or style on my senior care site..lol.
I then took a step back and decided that my online presence and businesses would flow better if I created one website around all of my interests and businesses, thus Tiffany Tene’.
The beginning stages of my blogging and social media journey were more like training rather than a full-fledge consistent business.
I was like, do I really want to try and do this full-time when I can just go out in the real world, quickly get more patients, receive daily cash or checks in my hand, and be more than okay?
Then I thought to myself, if I were so content with that routine, I wouldn’t have moved away from it…
Is Senior Care stable? yes! Predictable? yes! Economy-Proof? yes!
But because I had been in the field for over 10 years, I wanted to start exploring other income options.
The good thing is that my medical career will never leave. I can and will always go back to it.
Medical careers will never go away. The health care industry is so vast, that even if Robots replace some health care positions, somehow medical workers, caregivers, and researchers will always be needed.
The best thing about being in the medical field is that I can pick it up and put it down when needed.
(In this wild life of mine, I have to have flexibility in all things!)
Decisions Decisions Decisions
Do I want to be in this blogging thing for the long run? Do I really want to be a content creator? I mean, consistently! No in and outs! How much do I love writing, and providing information for readers? How much time am I willing to invest in my new brands? Is it worth it? How do I feel when I am photographing, writing, researching, posting, and creating?
(And this is why I stepped away from social media…three times!)
This time, I really needed to make a final decision.
I made up my mind that I was going to work in the medical field, and in the Senior Care Industry while building other businesses.
Am I in this for the long run?
My final answer is yes.
Learning New Skills is Crucial!
You should always be learning something new, upgrading your skills, and expanding your knowledge. Don't ever stop! As unforeseen circumstances continue to happen on this planet, you will need to be flexible-You will need to be able to maneuver from skill to skill.
If you are new to blogging and have made the final decision to become a serious and consistent content creator, then you need to take these courses for your online brand to survive.

The past couple of weeks has been a whirlwind of opportunities for the future of my brand and lifestyle blog!
I have been filled with excitement because the perfect networks keep pouring in. I've been having so many positive back to back happenings, which is motivating and encouraging me to be more persistent with my plans.
I am still making wonderful connections with like-minded brands, and am in the process of selecting new and curated collections and products for my store.
As I continue to clear out the clutter of the old e-mails, that are no longer serving me, I am receiving new refreshing, unexpected e-mails gifting me with great news!

2. Life lessons I'm taking with me through this week and beyond
Last week, I had lunch with an old friend of mine, whom I had not seen in 8 years. I was so proud and highly impressed with his progress in life, career, business, and investments. In listening to him talk, I was reminded of what I needed to get to the next level. Extreme focus, discipline, self-control, patience, and perseverance.
Lesson learned from our lunch meeting-Be careful about who and what you invest in. Who you invest in is just as important as what you invest in. Tiffany Tene'
Are you investing your time and money in the right person/ people?
To add to that, in talking with my dad about life in general, (imma Daddy's girl) he says, it's not always about who or what you want, it's about who and what you need! Thank you, Daddy! Lesson learned✔
3. Marketing Strategies
Though I get marketing strategies sent to me via e-mail and webinars, I will be taking some social media marketing courses.
Also going to be reading some ‘Think with Google' articles!
The best thing for me to do right now as a new lifestyle content creator is to continue to consistently promote and put out fresh new content.
I'm still batching blog content and Pinterest pins at the same time! Yikes! It has put me a bit behind but in the long run, it will flow nicely.
4. In My Posh Resale Shop-Tene's Armoire
As a semi-seasoned seller, I will once again provide fresh new listings in my store on a daily, and share with my customers and followers as often as possible.
5. Health and Wellness
After providing our guinea pig with fresh hay, I had an allergy flare! So I ordered some Manuka honey for cough throat and allergies. Manuka honey is made in Australia and New Zealand and is known to be the best in the world. I’ve had it before, but not with the herbal infusions. It’s expected arrival is this week- Can't wait to get it! Get ready for a review, if I love!
Coffee Tea Rotation
Time to rotate back to tea 3 times a day…4. I just finished reading an Asian blog post suggesting to increase your herbal tea intake (green tea would be ideal) from 3 times a day to 4, due to covid.
Still not a morning person… BUT,
For the past 4 days, I've been waking up at 7:16 am on the dot!🤔If this continues, I guess I'll be forced to accept it as my new schedule…??😒
Seriously, I haven’t even been resisting this early morning universal wake me up because I now have additional tasks and assignments. So some days, I really do have to get up early.
6. Planning for 2021
I will be doing more preparations this week for my first international trip. I'm sooooo excited! I already have chosen the outfits that I am going to wear, I just need to figure out shoes.
I have finally decided where I will stay and will find 2nd and 3rd lodging options for back up.
New Pages
I've added a few new pages to my website! Go check out the bottom of my website menu bar.
One of the pages that I added is some online learning courses. I will be adding more courses as I see fit.
I love online courses!
While on the Islands in Corpus Christi, Texas I took several online courses to upgrade and enhance my skills.
I'm about to go on another learning spree😄

Atlas Coffee Review-I Took A Virtual Trip To Brazil and Transformed My Daily Coffee Routine Into A Fun Adventure
I am currently sitting blissfully outside of a popular coffee shop in Rio de Janeiro, admiring the beautiful city, enjoying the Portuguese language, and soaking up the rich Brazilian culture.
After another slow and mellow hour has passed, I’m eager to scout things out and mingle with the locals!
With the smell of coffee still lingering in the air and on my clothes, I decide to walk the streets of Brazil.
Immediately swept away by the sounds of Brazilian music, I fall into a trance, watching all of the colorful skirts whirling around in the streets. Exotic Brazilian women are cheerfully laughing-happily dancing with their partners!
Sensing my excitement, and interest, they beckon me to come and join them.
Mingling with the locals bring me joy!
Hesitant to leave, but realizing that I have much more to discover, I graciously thanked all of the dancers for an unforgettable time, gave goodbye hugs, and politely make my way down an unknown street.
Navigating around the city, I encounter friendly Brazilians who are more than willing to go above and beyond to accommodate me.
After spending some time exploring, I find my way back to the coffee shop!
Travel Brazil
Upon ordering another cup of coffee with pastel, I meet some Expats who are from the States. Coffee Connoisseurs, (Or shall I say, conocedor?) who have traveled around the world, tending the best coffee!
Here in Brazil, the two Coffee Connoisseurs have found a particular type of coffee that has never been introduced to the USA.
This definitely piqued my interest, as I am a coffee addict!
After exchanging information, and addresses, the Coffee Connoisseurs promise to send me a package of this new Brazilian coffee to experience.
I Can’t wait!
I am now being transported back to the States🧘🏽♀️
While en route, my new coffee travel experts are with me every step of the way!
My Brazilian Coffee Has Arrived!
I received my Brazilian coffee in lightning fast time, from Atlas Coffee Club.
The smell of this coffee is intoxicating! OMG!
Even my 7 and 11-year-old boys ran in the kitchen!“Mommy, what's that smell?”
“Doesn't it smell good?”I asked. “Yes!” They said lingering around excitedly as if they were going to actually get to taste a cup of coffee.
Side Note: I make Colombian coffee all of the time. I also am always trying out all sorts of new coffee-so that just goes to show that there is a very distinct difference in this Brazilian coffee!
Coffee From Brazil!
My Brazilian Post Card
How I Brew
While living on the Islands in Corpus Christi, Texas, I tossed my coffee pot out after trying the drip method for the first time.
When using the drip method, the taste of coffee is definitely by far wayyyy more authentic and fresh!
The special coffee card, (which is included in my package) says that the best way to brew this particular Brazilian coffee is by using a Chemex.
If you are new to the coffee scene, a Chemex is a manual pour-over style glass coffee maker. It is basically the same brewing method as to how I brew, but with clear glass.
After slowly pouring 1 cup of hot water into 2 coffee filters filled with 2 tablesoons of ground coffee, I carefully gather and hold the top four corners of the filter with my finger tips. (I use 2 coffee filters together, stacked on top of each other, for extra support.) Raising the coffee filter 7-8 inches from the bottom of the cup, I allow the coffee to drip inside of my cup. In doing this, you must take your time, and be extra careful because the filter is extremely hot. You can either let the hot water sit in the filter for a short bit, or just stick with the chemex if you are extra sensitive to heat.
Also, you can transfer your freshly made drip coffee into another cup if you like.
Drinking From The Perfect Color Coffee Cup
Have you heard the saying that the color of your coffee cup makes a difference in the way it taste?
Well, I have tried that theory, and found it to be true!
I wanted to get the best taste out of my new Brazilian coffee, so everyday this week, I've been drinking from a variety of coffee and glass cups.
Medium Roast
I am a dark roast girl but decided to try medium roast.
I usually need a strong bold robust cup of coffee with just a little sugar, milk, or creamer…Sometimes I prefer my coffee with no milk at all.
The Taste of Brazilian Coffee
This was my very first time tasting Brazilian coffee!
The flavor is light and soft with sweet fruity notes. I must say that out of all of the coffee that I have ever tried, none has ever been this naturally sweet! You really don’t need to add that much milk or sugar-Being that this Brazilian coffee is so light, you may prefer it straight.
In experimenting with the taste that suits me the best, I scooped out 1 1/4 tablespoons of sugar.
When drinking in mugs, I enjoyed my Brazilian coffee the best warm or cold brew, versus scorching hot like I am used to.
Currently, I am having the best hot Brazilian coffee taste while drinking from a small espresso cup!
Surprisingly, these cute espresso cups are providing me with the ultimate Brazilian coffee experience so far!
Because Brazilian coffee is naturally soft and sweet, you can enjoy drinking it throughout the day! It also serves as a good nightcap.

6 Important Things I’m Doing This Week For Optimal Growth and Business Development
My lifestyle business blog Tiffany Tene' is 1 year old! I am learning so much about the business of blogging, branding, marketing, promoting, and all of the tools that I need behind the scenes for my online businesses to thrive.
Changing from one niche online business to incorporating all of my interests, intellectual property, and passions on one website has been one of the best business decisions that I have made.
Most of all, this year for me has been all about personal development which never gets old (because I am always evolving) focus, discipline, and consistency.
Since last year, I have gone from blogging to once a month, to once every two weeks, to once a week. Now I am batching my blogs so that I can start posting at least 3-4 times a week.
Building businesses takes time!
I feel that if you can't see the big picture, then you won't be in it for the long haul.
6 Important Things I’m Doing This Week For Optimal Growth and Business Development
Attending The Apparel Textile Virtual Trade Show
Every year, the fashion apparel textile sourcing hosts live events for those who are interested in getting in the fashion industry by way of designing, or sourcing products for your online or brick and mortar store.
These free events are held in Miami and Canada!
Wanna see what it’s all about?
2. Watch Nick Polizzi's The Healing Secrets of The Amazon Rainforest
I am fascinated with indigenous people, so I am super excited to finally set some time aside to watch this, and also read more of his blog posts.
One day I would like to be hands-on in helping to preserve indigenous rights, culture, and land.
Wanna watch too?
3. Work on Specific Tasks To Scale My Businesses
I have made over $7,400 in my Poshmark Store and Boutique, Tene’s Armoire. This was a side hustle, and an online experiment/obsession that really set the tone and foundation for my new lifestyle and business blog.
In 2021, I would like to scale my resell business by only selling products that have proven to sell faster, and at a higher profit.
Also, I am narrowing down my consulting services, and other e-commerce products.
4. Honing my Affiliate Marketing Strategies
If not for my Poshmark store, I probably would still be sitting on the fence when it came to affiliate marketing.
Because of Poshmark, I have become a selling machine! Having a store before going all-in on this website, has made me unashamed to market, promote, and place banners on my site.
When you use Blogging as a business, you will understand that just like any other business, you will need to advertise, promote, collaborate, and partner with other like-minded businesses, to achieve ultimate success.
When done correctly, it’s a win-win for readers, content creators, and affiliate brands.
I think of my website as a magazine/ store-
All blogger’s websites are online stores of some sort when you really think about it.
5. Create and Schedule Pins for Pinterest
My Pinterest account has tremendously grown in the past 3 months. It’s a huge motivating force for my business and a “silent assassin”. Lol
6. Website Maintenance
I will be updating some links on older blog posts, and adding new pictures on the site.
I'm going to go with the flow of my analytics! I will continue to write, share, and learn.
What will you be up to this week?
Get Rid of Everything and Everyone in Your Life That is Not in Alignment With Who You Are
As the days that lead up to my birthday (October 8) slowly passed by, I received a powerful and timely call from my Aunt in California. Although she told me that I made her feel so much better by providing her with some business information and encouraging words, it was she, my Aunt Debra who was used by the Universe to remind me of who I am… and who I am not.
Me and my Aunt Debra. I’m a 70’s baby, ya dig!
Power Talkin’ With Aunt D
We both came to the conclusion that as we evolve, we MUST take action RIGHT NOW, to always surround ourselves with like-minded people. And then once we get around our like-minded group or tribe, (which doesn't have to be huge) cherish them! Show more thankfulness, and be active in cultivating those like-minded relationships.
This goes for all areas of our lives. Let no area of your life compromise. Even in what may seem to be the most tiniest corners in our life…, such as e-mails. But maybe not so tiny for some, because I have read articles in which people have stated how an e-mail changed their life.
My E-mail Subscription Rant
I have been receiving e-mails for things that I had subscribed to at some point in my life, that does not even motivate me. Apparently, I like one article, fill out my e-mail address and subscribe. Then I somehow allow for these e-mails to continue on floating in my inbox without opening, or deleting. Do you do this?
Like the paper letters that I love receiving in my physical mailbox, I should be excited each day to open up my e-mails! And you should too!
Whatever the reasoning is behind why I thought that some of these e-mails were in alignment with my highest purpose, and was so quick to subscribe, doesn't even matter right now.
LOL!
Totally my bad for not taking the time to really sort through who I am subscribed to!
A Talk With Myself
Am I really supporting these businesses? Do I comment on their page or support them in some type of way?
Are they the type of people that I would want to talk to every single day? Have I bought anything from them? Do I intend on buying anything from them?
What am I allowing in my space? Yes, even the title of an e-mail that doesn’t align with me may be irritating.
I just want to feel like every single e-mail that I open up on a daily hits my soul. Ya know what I mean?
Slow down and take time to discover what is actually coming in and out of your life!
Who and what fully resonates with you? (Because you must have your whole heart into whoever and whatever is in your life.)
Don't keep old junk, old habits, and older versions of yourself in your inbox
Unsubscribe and delete the minute you start to feel strange vibes. If that person or business has somehow linked you to a person, place, or thing that inspired you, find a way to thank them, and move on.
When you sift through every person, place, thing, and businesses that are in your life, you will be fully balanced. You will be happier, and your mind will be ever so clear. You will be excited every day, and feel as if something good is about to happen..even though you may not be so sure of what that something is yet.
You will just be excited to feel that you are walking light. Consciously floating..
You may have something in your life right now that you are on the fence about. Why are you on the fence? Do you feel obligated to someone, or to a situation that no longer serves you? Don't go forth with it. Don’t continue. Cut it off.
Your Personal Relationships
Back to people, because people take up most of our time and energy.
Conversations that no longer serve you, get rid of.
I have cut off relationships, best friends, (so I thought), and even family members who seem to always have a negative view of themselves and life.
If I am so positive, optimistic, and outgoing, why am I constantly having conversations with these people?🤔
Don’t feel sorry for anyone. Help, encourage and move on. Your energy can’t be clouded with grey smoke.
If you are entrepreneurial, surround yourself with the right entrepreneur minds. And be aware that just because someone is a millionaire, doesn’t mean that you have to join their tribe.
I’ve had a millionaire mentor before that was way off.
So I am weeding out who I listen to and being very selective. Who really resonates with me? Not just some of the time, all the time.
Manish Chandra-CEO of Poshmark He believes in Leading with Love
Having a blog, business, and website gives me a greater opportunity to partner up with people and businesses that are in alignment with my life purpose and journey.
My new website is quickly playing a huge part in my online journey.
In going through and researching an online business, I get so excited because I have finally found these businesses who think like me, dress like me, or have said something that I have said or thought in their mission statement.
My Aunt suggested for us to create a Personal Mission Statement, and stick to it-
Sidenote: I am so proud of my Aunt Debra. Along with my mom, they became the first African American women to work at Fremont Police Station, and The City of Fremont, California. My Aunt went on and pursued her Master's Degree, and became the head of City management, planning, and human resources.
Both are now retired!
A Company's Core Values
Find out if a company's core values resonate with yours. Many times we get on platforms mainly because of people like you and me who keep them going. But I like to see and find out what the person who created the platform is like. And The people behind the scenes..what are they like?
For instance, I am not on TikTok but I just recently saw the founder on an award show. He is full of energy, and even gave a little be-bop performance! His personality ties in with all of the fun and liveliness that goes on within his created site.
My sister-cousin
Stay around like-minded people
When you are around like-minded people, your conversations flow freely. Your combined energies are united, and there are no choppy blocks. You don’t have to always choose your words, or watch what you say, because your energy partners get it.
Social Media
I have come to the realization that I do very well in communities of various age groups, that can post and share with very few limits. Most importantly, I thrive in organic communities.
Find or create online communities where you can be your most creative self without drama all of the time!
I know there’s going to be some type of drama in almost any organization, but the majority of your life should not be fueled by hostile arguments and constant negative vibes.
You will find me most active on Pinterest, Poshmark, YouTube (viewing and comments), and here on my website. These communities I feel closely moderate their platforms better than others.
Within the last 2 months, the Universe has been constantly reminding me to be careful and cautious about who and what I allow in my space.
Be very very selective. Who cares if they say you are stuck-up, too picky, or that your standards are too high. Don’t bend!
By having like-minded people in your circle, you are protecting yourself, your space, and your family.
As I told my Aunt, who you allow in your space, can be a matter of life or death.
Literally.

This is How I Receive Special Messages from The Universe During Nature Walks
While doing some more preparation for my International travels, I started to get a little impatient-well a lot..wellll,… actualyyy, more than usual??..
I have been so excited, throughout the whole process so far-But all of a sudden, I just wanted everything to happen, RIGHT NOW!
I mean, RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW!..(folding my arms and stomping my feet.)
Side note: I’m terribly spoiled and used to getting what I want. I'm also used to moving fast, so sometimes when something on the outside doesn't come as quick as I think it should, I act up.
Like, can I just snap my fingers and be there already? What else is it that I need to learn Universe? What other spiritual assignment do I need to complete before I leave? Huh?
Back to my Adult Self
Even though I'm a spoiled brat sometimes, I am learning to still use wisdom.
It's very important to ask questions when you suddenly get impatient, because you don't want to embark anywhere prematurely.
Question yourself, and then ask the Universe some questions!
Reasons Why you Don’t Get What you Want Right Away (according to me.)
Sometimes you don’t get what you want right away because you are not ready yet. Or,
-It is not yet ready for you
-What you want right away may do you more harm than good right now
-You need to take some more actions
-The Universe is trying to protect you in some type of way
-You are not fully equipped
-You still need more training
Everything and everyone has to go through a process!
Because I was getting a bit out of hand, the Universe had to get rough with me :
Would you want your baby ripped from your womb in the middle of the development stage? Like at 4 months?..”okay tiff, time to have this baby”…. “but doctor, I thought it takes 9 months for a baby to fully develop?”….”Nope, it’s coming out now.”
“Yeah Tiff, time to listen”…
Me-”okay”…
So, I grab the kids, and off we go into nature!.. and this is what they said unto me:
How I Receive Special Messages From the Universe
1. Be Still, Sturdy, and Cool
Remember that big strong unmovable unshakeable foundation that you have been wanting to build?
(Out of all of the dozens and dozens of trees, I was immediately drawn to this one.)
In comparison to the other trees behind it, my tree had the sturdiest foundation and provided the most shade.
It was bigger, stronger, and better than the rest.
Zoom in, and look at its roots and stump!
I Will Always Guard Shield and Protect you!
Haven't you forgotten something?
Wait!..what??
I didn't meditate! So I flopped right down on the ground, in front of my special tree-Indian style-tight jeans and all.
Ahhhhhh yeah!!
2. Transformation Has Taken Place
I have never seen a beetle’s shell like this before. This was a sure message for me, that was left right on my special tree. It reminds me of the Egyptian meaning of the scarab; rebirth, and resurrection.
You have evolved and passed the tests, now it’s time to move on.
A transformation has taken place.
Move on, and leave your former self behind.
Death to your old life/self-Life to your new self.
3. This is What Will Happen and Has Happened When you Get Too Impatient and Go Outside of the Safety Zone
My tree is still providing so much cool, breezy shade on a hot day.
But look at the area outside of the shade.
It’s a hot mess!
4. Follow the Path that Has Been Set Before you
Distant, Safe and Fertile Lands, Prosperity, and Hidden Rewards are Awaiting.
5. Take a Leap of Faith
After our nature walk, we came back to my favorite tree. Flopping down on the ground again, I pulled out my cell to call Uber.
Directly in back, and very close to me, my son spotted a grasshopper that seemed to come out of nowhere.
This to me was the most important message. A message in which I didn't even decode, until the next day.
I just thought, Ohh! A grasshopper…and it wasn’t even hopping! We put a stick in front of it, and it climbed onto the stick. I even poked it a bit, and all it did was jump closer to me! .. it didn't hop away.🤔
Yesterday as I was sitting on the couch, I was suddenly reminded of the grasshopper.
That friendly grasshopper was trying to tell me something!
So I Googled it, and found a reading that resonated with me.
When a Grasshopper Suddenly Appears out of Nowhere
(Zoom in and check out the body. It looks like the inside of a mushroom)
When the grasshopper spirit animal comes leaping into your life, it signifies your need to make a tremendous leap of faith.
A grasshopper can take you by surprise because it just appears out of nowhere. It is free to do as it pleases, and can go anytime and anywhere it wants….
(remember I was asking the Universe why can't I just snap my fingers and be there already?)
You can adapt to any situation, and you are flexible enough when surrounded by different kinds of people.
Just like the cricket symbolism, the grasshopper symbolism wants you to know that if you aim high and go where others are scared to go, you will accomplish amazing feats and achieve incredible results!
The meaning of the cricket highlights the importance of patience, solidarity, and security.
(HA! Ohhh Patience! Does the universe know how to send timely messages, or what?)
The grasshopper spirit animal chooses those who want to move ahead in life with their innovative thinking and progressive approach.
When you are inspired by the grasshopper totem, jump forward and get past whatever is trying to keep you or hold you back.
Grasshoppers are also said to be a sign of Good Luck!
The Universe will never fail you! Even when it seems as if at times your life, health, family, and career, are all falling apart.
In reality, all things are shifting-turning-adjusting-moving-rearranging, in your favor.
When you don't blame, and go within to look for answers and guidance, and if you stay in tune, to your higher calling in life, The Universe will accommodate and give you exactly what you need during all of your life’s transitions.
Nature Heals
When you are looking for answers, go into nature. To clear your mind, go into nature. To shift your mood, go into nature.
To evolve, go into nature.
When you start to do this on a regular, (and intentionally) you will never look at a leaf, a tree, flowers, insects, grass, lakes, and ponds the same way ever again.
And SUDDENLY,
Everything and everyone that appears in front of you almost everywhere you go, will always have a meaning, a purpose, and a special message.

Ten Thousand Villages
Ten Thousand Villages was founded by Edna Ruth Byner, A wife, and mother from Akron, Ohio. While visiting Puerto Rico with her husband in 1946, Edna met a few women who were struggling to put food on the table for their children. After seeing a handful of pieces of their fine embroidery, Ruth was moved to bring some of them back to her home town to sell.
Edna Ruth Byner began sharing the stories of the Women Makers to her friends and neighbors, explaining how each purchase helps The Women, their Family, and their Community, gain economic independence.
Now Ten Thousand Villages practices Fair Trade with 30 developing Countries!
What I especially like about this Company, is that via video, pictures, blogs, and written stories, you get to see, and hear from the actual Makers. Ten Thousand Villages takes you behind the scenes of every single country that they have partnered with, allowing you to watch the Makers in action.
You will feel like you are truly a part of The Villages!
Fair Trade
Fair trade proves that greater justice in world trade is possible. It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty, climate change and economic crisis.
—World Fair Trade Organization
Ten Thousand Villages is the epitome of what fair trade should look like. Their business model is one that a start-up fair trade company would want to readily adopt. Simply put, they first ask the Makers what would be a sufficient amount of pay, then both parties come up with a fair agreement. Next, Ten Thousand Villages pay the Makers FIRST (50% of the agreed price), before products are shipped, to protect Makers from exploitative loans.
I’ve always had a heart for fair trade and indigenous cultures, so this makes me smile!

When women have money, they have a say in the family… and their voice is heard. She gains confidence. Life becomes important for her. And so that’s in the real sense, that’s economic empowerment.” – Meera Bhattarai, CEO and founding member of ACP-Association for Craft Producers in Kathmandu, Nepal.
